Congratulations to our DanZa Amateur Caribbean Crew Season 4 for two amazing back to back performances at Caribbean Days Festival and Sunday Afternoon Salsa at Robson Square!
This season’s dancers were:
Zaida Calvete Norell
Tereza Paraschivescu (Choreographer)
A little bit more about our amateur dance crews: currently only offered in the Caribbean Dance style but with more styles to come, these select groups are a chance for beginners and intermediate dancers alike to be a part of an immersive experience where they can learn intricate choreography, teamwork and valuable dance techniques to improve (or kickstart) their craft.
Run by Co-owner and Artistic Director Tereza Paraschivescu, these groups require an audition prior to joining. Please stay tuned for our Season 5 auditions coming up in Fall 2019.
Cost: $250 (+ 5% GST) for 10 weeks of training + extra costume fee (exact amount TBD but likely under $50 + tax per participant)
Rehearsal schedule: 2 hours every Friday night from 7-9pm (exact start date TBD)
What to expect during rehearsals: Each rehearsal will start with a long dance warm up, drills and theory, as well as lessons on the history behind each step. Then, you will learn a complex choreography that you will rehearse progressively for 10 weeks. There will be cool down and stretch at the end. After 10 weeks, you are expected to perform the choreography at a venue selected by DanZa Productions (TBD). Performance is mandatory as this is a performance group.
**Mandatory additional training: In order to keep their skills sharps, all chosen crew members MUST attend at least 1 other DanZa dance class per week.
Perk: All chosen crew members are eligible to take 2 FREE DanZa dance classes per week for the duration of their 10-week training.
