Created in The Bronx in New York City by Clive Campbell, a Jamaican-American DJ, Hip-Hop is the crossroads between Rap, Break Dance and Graffiti. This urban style quickly became the new genre young people identified with and adopted at house parties and neighbourhood block party events, held outdoors. Our Hip-Hop class is truly beginner friendly and focuses on the foundational grooves and steps of Hip-Hop. Come learn this pivotal style of dance history from its very beginning.

Traditional West African Dance

Let the sounds of West Africa transport you and the fluid movements connect your mind, body and soul. In this class, you will learn tradition, strength and history through music and dance deeply rooted in the Mother of all Motherlands: Africa. This is where it all started: African dance gave birth to many of the dance styles known to man. Although most of the ”phrases” are but fragments of what used to be, we are privileged to share them with you today. By studying these fragments of movement and the spirituality behind them, you will be exposed to an outer world experience, compelling you to reflect on your own culture and traditions.

Progressive Afrobeats

Our Progressive Afrobeats classes will be taught by Bison, and will run from Monday April 9 to Monday May 28th, inclusive. Born in Paris, Bison has been raised in the African environment, surrounded by music and dance all his life. He developed a strong interest for dance early, as he danced with his family. After years of using dance, from Hip-Hop to Salsa, as forms of expression, freedom and recreation, he decided to focus his passion and training in AfroBeats and Kizomba in order to share his passion with future students, with care, humour and a never fading smile.

Bison’s AfroBeats will make you travel through Africa. Steps from Coupé Décalé from Ivory Coast, Azonto from Ghana, Bikutsi from Cameroon or Ndombolo from Congo, just to name a few, are part of the AfroBeats taught by Bison. Fun, self-expression, body awareness, cardio, coordination are some of the benefit that you will get from his class.
